Truth. It’s been on my mind for a while. Praying to be speaking and hearing truth. John 4:23-24 says our worship must engage our spirit in the pursuit of truth…to worship out of our spirit, our true selves (with sincerity). Ephesians 4:15 says to speak the truth in love- we need to be able to lovingly bring truth to each other without contention {an earnest effort for superiority or victory over another}. Philippians 4:8 says “Fix your thoughts on what is true”.
I believe it is so important to fill ourselves with the truth of God’s word. “Watch your mouth gate. Know your tongue is a powerful thing and needs to speak life and not death” is one of the points in our Holy Spirit Protocol. If we are filling ourselves with truth, then truth will come out, when the lies of the enemy come we can identify and shut them down-whether it’s our own thoughts, or the words of others. We would also recognize truth when it’s spoken and humbly search our hearts for where we can apply it. When we get the revelation of that truth-His love, His word, who we are in Him, we can speak truth and life into every situation we face.
If you have the book Ignite your Faith in Forty Days, it’d be a great time to start going through that again, or grab some of your favorite truths in scripture and declare them over yourself-mind, body, finances, relationships etc.. or go back and listen to Pastor Tim’s messages from April-May 2013 “Empowered words and Ignited Faith”. Our Heavenly Father gives good gifts to those who ask, so let’s do it 🙂
Ephesians 4:14-16 (NLT) Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.v
John 23-24 (MSG) “It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.”
Philippians 4:8 (NLT) And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
