“Koinonia”

Hi Team!

I’ve been contemplating our team and our vision. The first line of our vision states, “to create an atmosphere of encounter with God.” As I think upon how to do that and what God desires from us to make that happen, I started to consider the fellowship of the believers spoken of in Acts 2. Acts 2:42-47 says, “they devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who are being saved.”

I noted from reading this that as they broke bread together and devoted themselves to each other and the community around them, wonders and miracles occurred.

This type of fellowship together is called “koinonia”. It basically has a 3 fold meaning: participation, impartation, and fellowship.

As we enter into this months fast (tomorrow) let’s focus our hearts on this term and what it means for our team and our church community. Koinonia. Let’s set our hearts toward growing together in unity and fellowship for the purpose of creating an atmosphere of encounter with God.

Love you all!

happy fasting!!!

Tiffany, thank you for keeping the vision in front of the team. We have to refer to these things often, until the whole team can speak it, love it and live for it!
